General Role Description:

Sibylline Brasil Consultoria Ltda (“Sibylline”) is looking for an experienced bi-lingual (Portuguese & English) Due Diligence analyst with a proven track-record conducting due diligence in the LATAM region. The successful applicant will join our team as an embedded analyst within a client’s global security function in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Knowledge of the entire due diligence spectrum (i.e. from background checks to enhanced integrity investigations) is a requirement as this position will provide research and analytical support to multi-lingual and multi-national assignments. While this role is based and focused on LATAM, the successful applicant will also support work in North America, and will be required to have a broad understanding of global affairs.

It is expected that applicants to this role will have extensive research experience, using a wide range of primary and secondary sources. They will also have analytical insight, which will be required to write high quality and insightful reports to strict deadlines. In addition, due diligence analysts will engage directly with stakeholders within their client organization in order to manage expectations, interpret client requirements, provide immediate support, and leverage any additional support from the core Sibylline team. In addition to written analysis, we expect members of our embedded team to deliver verbal briefs that are concise and add value.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Essential Function

  • Conducting desktop research using various open source tools and methods, public records, and proprietary databases
  • Be innovative in the development of new research techniques and resources
  • Conducting high quality research and analysis that covers various industry sectors
  • Utilizing a variety of research databases necessary for due diligence
  • Verifying various data relevant to each subject in the due diligence process; determining what is and is not important in developing integrity profiles of due diligence subjects
  • Clearly convey political and commercial dynamics that impact specific countries, with the support of Sibylline’s regional analysts
  • Reviewing, editing and verifying reports provided by external analysts and sources; a critical eye for detail is paramount; and, drafting internal reports
  • Be an ambassador for Sibylline within the client organization and play a pro-active part in maintaining and expanding the contract

  • Provide geopolitical analytical cover for regional analysts, as required
  • Attend industry events and promote Sibylline's reputation
  • Some international travel may be required

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Minimum
  • Postgraduate degree in law, international politics, international business or a related field, with knowledge of basic financial and commercial concepts
  • 2-5 years of previous experience working at a business intelligence firm, with demonstrable experience across the due diligence process. Case management experience is desirable.
  • Fluence in Portuguese and English is essential; along with international work experience, travel and professional network development
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of Brazilian and broader Latin American politics, business environment and current events
  • Excellent research skills, and ability to rapidly digest, evaluate and “sift” large quantities of information, with an aptitude for writing and editing with speed and accuracy in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
  • Sharp analytical skills: an ability to provide rigorous and creative insight into complex situations, demonstrating impeccable neutrality in terms of political bias
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver timely work products in a fast-paced working environment
  • Able to work and thrive a team environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • High level competency with MS Office tools
  • Experience working with highly confidential information
  • Exemplary skills in all facets of customer service
  • Eligible to live and work in Brazil
Preferred 
  • Native regional insight; previous experience living and working in the region
  • A proven track record of conducting research and providing analysis in a commercial context would be an advantage

  • Strong personal initiative, with ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver solutions under minimal guidance

Application & Remuneration:

The remuneration for this role is negotiable for the right candidate, dependent on qualifications, aptitude and experience.

Filtration of candidates based on a writing sample and CV will happen continuously with qualified applicants invited to complete a writing assessment (at an arranged time to suit you) to test writing and analytical abilities. Successful applicants will be progressed to an interview. Interviews will be conducted via teleconference for a late April/early May start date.
