EVENT RISK ASSESSMENT: ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023

ASTRA API (1)

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will run from 5 October to 19 November. In all, 48 matches will take place in ten different cities across the country. The tournament comes amid elevated ethno-religious tensions between India's Hindu majority and Muslim minority communities; various religious festivals during the tournament will possibly act as triggers for unrest, as will the high-profile match between India and Pakistan on 14 October. Additionally, heightened security during the tournament and concurrent religious festivals will drive operational and transport disruption risks.
